HOLY LITURGY AT THE TEMPLE OF SAINT SAVA

Belgrade, 10 May 2004 – TRH Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine attended today the Lesser Consecration of Saint Sava’s Temple and the Holy Liturgy celebrated by His All-Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Pavle, with assistance of the Arch Hierarchs of other Orthodox Churches, participants of this year’s Holy Assembly of Bishops, clergy and monastics of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Beside Their Royal Highnesses, the Liturgy was also attended by the representatives of Serbian Government, Government of the State Union and the Army of Serbia and Montenegro, diplomatic corps and other religions.

After the Liturgy and cutting the Slava cake, His All-Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew addressed His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Pavle and the gathered people, wishing him long life to continue his mission, and the Christian Serbian people peace and love.

Then the procession went from Saint Sava’s Temple to the monument of the Supreme Leader Karadjordje, led by the distinguished guests, Arch Hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess, where HRH Crown Prince Alexander II laid wreath, and in the near vicinity the foundation-stone for the new Patriarchy was laid.

A formal lunch was organized for Their Royal Highnesses and other distinguished guests at the “Slavija Lux” hotel.
