CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY OF ASSASSINATED DIMITRIJE POPOVIC

Belgrade, 6 June 2004 - HRH Crown Prince Alexander II has sent a letter of condolences to the family of seventeen year old Dimitrije Popovic who tragically lost his life in Kosovska Mitrovica:

"It was with great sadness and distress that I received the news of the tragic event in which a young life was lost in another attack by the Albanian terrorists. I most strongly condemn such an act of violence and once again emphasize it is totally unacceptable in any modern democratic society. It is regrettable that such cold-blooded murder happened despite all the efforts to enable living together of the Serbs and the Albanians in Kosovo and Metohia.

It is high time for the international community to pay most serious attention to the problems in Kosovo and find permanent solution so that such tragic events could be prevented. I expect the United Nations to conduct a swift and efficient investigation, and the perpetrators of this crime to be most severely punished" - emphasized the Crown Prince in his letter of condolences.
