Elections: “Go and vote, but let us be serious”

Belgrade 8 June 2004 - HRH Crown Prince Alexander has issued the following statement regarding the forthcoming presidential elections on Sunday 13 June 2004.

“It is important that people turn out and vote freely for the candidate of their choice. The elections must be a success.

I must stress that as the Head of the Royal Family I do not approve of anyone using the name of Karadjordjevic or using the title of Prince or Princess for supposed political purposes or political office. Our duty is to respect all politicians and political parties and not to provide or create division or confusion. The position of president of the republic is a serious responsibility and duty to serve all citizens and should not be abused or diminished for personal frivolous purposes.”
