HRH CROWN PRINCESS KATHERINE VISITS THE UNIVERSITY PEDIATRIC CLINIC, VRBAS, VETERNIK AND NOVI SAD

Medical equipment and humanitarian aid delivered

Belgrade , 8 June 2004 – HRH Crown Princess Katherine visited the University Pediatric Clinic today, where a course for the pediatricians and neonatologists from all over Serbia was organized. The lecturers at this symposium were Dr.John Papadatos and other eminent experts from Greece . After this visit the Princess went to the town of Vrbas where she was the guests of the Town Hall and the Health Center .

HRH Crown Princess Katherine was welcomed by the Mayor of Vrbas Mr. Mihailo Miletic with his closest associates, who introduced the Princess to the development and further plans of Vrbas and its surroundings.

Addressing the present the Princess pointed out that “Vrbas, as well as our whole country must take care of our young people who are our future”.

After the visit to the Town Hall the Princess went to the Health Center where she delivered new donations of medical equipment.

In her address to the present the Princess pointed out that the efforts of the doctors and nurses in protecting patients' health have great importance, and they are true heroes who, despite the difficulties the face, every day fight for human lives and our nation's health.

Then the Princess, escorted by her hosts, took a tour of the Health Center and talked to the patients and the staff.

Continuing her visit to Vrbas, HRH Crown Princess Katherine called upon “Vital” and “Carnex” companies, where she learned about their production programs and further plans of our largest meat and cooking oil factories.

The Princess continued to the town of Veternik where she visited the Home for mentally disabled children and delivered donations from LDS Humanitarian organization whose representatives were present there.

The Princess also visited the Children's Hospital in Novi Sad , were she too, delivered donation of medical equipment.

“This is only a small part of what you need, for we know how difficult the conditions you work in are. I still hope that the situation will be better if everyone of us do the best they can” – pointed out Princess Katherine to the gathered.

The Greece experts, participants of the symposium organized by the Foundation of HRH Crown Princess Katherine and PNOE Foundation from Greece , headed by Dr Papadatos joined HRH Crown Princess Katherine during her visit to Veternik and Novi Sad .
