CHARITY ACTIVITIES TO AID CHILANDAR CONTINUE
Belgrade, 19 June 2004 – HRH Crown Prince Alexander II hosted a reception for the members of Historical Society from Sombor at The Royal Palace today. They donated two paintings: “Our fields” by Sava Stojkov, who could not personally hand it over because of illness, and “Times go by”, that was handed over by the author, Pavle Blesic. At the beginning the guests were welcomed by HRH Crown Prince Alexander II who expressed his pleasure for so many of our painters joining the charity program in aid of reconstruction of Chilandar monastery that was recently devastated by fire, and added: “Our working together to promote our culture and art will improve our image in the world in the best possible way and show that we are a people with great history and cultural heritage.” After the reception the guests took a tour of The Royal and The White Palace escorted by the Chief of Cabinet of HRH Crown Prince Alexander II, Mr. Dusan Babac. All the art works donated through this program will be exhibited at an auction that will be organized in autumn at The Royal Palace in Dedinje. All the proceeds will be in aid of reconstruction of Chilandar monastery, that was visited by HRH Crown Prince Alexander II on 8 March, immediately after the disastrous fire.
