GALA EVENT IN CYPRUS
Belgrade, July 5th 2004. – HRH Crown Prince Alexander II and HRH Princess Katherine attended major gala event organized by Mr Adis and Mrs Dora Economides, the owners of the ''Asia Beach Hotel'', under the auspice of the wife of the President of Cyprus Mrs Foteini Papadopulou. Among the attendees were the Mayor of Paphos Mr Fidias Sarikas, H.E. Ambassador of Serbia and Montenegro Mr Svetislav Basara, H.E. Ambassador of Greece Mr Christos Panagopoulous, H.E. Ambassador of Italy Gerardo de la Francesca, H.E. Consul of Brasil Mr Kechajian, The Chech consulate representative Mrs Melita Rolandi, The Bishop of Paphos Crysostomos, the Deputy President of the ''Disi'' oposition party Mr Averof Neofitou, the members of the Parlament from Amochostos Mr Sotiris Samson, from Lefkosia Mrs Maria Kiriakou, from Paphos Mr Nickos Pitokopitis, from Pegia Mr Dimitris Kapitzis, from St. Dometios Mr Andreas Chatziloizou, the former Minister of Health and president consultant Mr Manolis Christofidis, the ex representative of Cyprus in UN H.E. Ambassador Mr Andreas Iakovides, as well as over 500 representatives of the public and cultural life. The owner of ''Machi'' newspaper Mrs Vera Samson and the Director of The Neonatal Clynic of the Nicosia hospital Mr Chatzidimitriou were also present. At the beginning Mrs Economides gave the inspired speech, thanking Their Royal Highnesses and The Foundation of HRH Princess Katherine on great effort they invest in helping those who need this help the most. After that HRH Crown Prince Alexander II addressed the present and thanked all who wholeheartedly support activities of The Foundation of HRH Princess Katherine and involve themselves in humanitarian actions of the Humanitarian Organization ''Lifeline'', under the patronage of HRH Princess Katherine. ''I would like to thank family Economides and the whole staff of ''Asia Beach Hotel'' on their support and warm hospitality. It's a pleasure to be in Cyprus again'' – highlighted HRH Prince Alexander and invited HRH Princess Katherine to address the present. In her speech the Princess thanked everyone who supported this humanitarian gala event, and presented the situation in our health institutions, and the homes that accomodate internally displaced persons. In her speech the Princess expressed gratitude to the Mayor of Paphos Mr Fidias Sarikas who on this occasion donated the incubator to The Foundation of HRH Princess Katherine. ''During many years of my humanitarian work, and through cooperation of The Foundation with the kindhearted people, we succeeded all together to build the bridges of hope for the ones desperately needing it. We showed them we think about them and that they can always count on our friendship and help.'' – said Princess in her speech. All present had the opportunity to see the film by Mr Douglas Saurma about humanitarian organization ''Lifeline'' under the patronage of HRH Princess Katherine. |
