STATE SYMBOLS OF SERBIA ADOPTED Belgrade, 17 August 2004 – On the occasion of passing a motion on the State symbols of Serbia (red, blue and white flag, Royal coat of arms and anthem “God of Justice”) HRH Crown Prince Alexander II expresses his great pleasure and congratulates to the legislative body and all citizens of Serbia on this highly important act. The pleasure would be more complete if minor changes were not made in the anthem’s text, which has partly altered its historical context. Returning of the historical State symbols is a good sign that in our society an awareness has evolved that the future can not be built on self-denial, but on the best traditions and values of a nation. It was under these symbols that our ancestors united the country and reached new frontiers in citizens liberties, human rights and democracy. We are convinced that our descendants will, under these symbols, find it easier to recognize the road to a better destiny and peaceful future.
