HRH Crown Princess Katherine’s visit to Nis

11-12 June 2001

 

HRH Crown Princess Katherine visited Nis and Gornja Topaonica on 11 and 12 June 2001.

Upon the arrival in Nis HRH PK distributed humanitarian aid provided for this occasion in the refugee centre in Hotel Park. At the Reception in the City Hall, HRH PK met with the Mayor of Nis Mr Goran Ciric. On this occasion, Miss Goldsmith was presented with a statue of the Emperor Constantine in gratitude for her donation to the Children’s Hospital of the Clinical Centre Nis. Following the Reception HRH PK greeted the citizens of Nis during a brief walk through the city.

On Tuesday 12 June, PK and Miss Isabel Goldsmith inaugurated a Prenatal Diagnostic Unit of the Children’s Hospital at the Clinical Centre in Nis. HRH Crown Princess Katherine also opened two renovated wards, named “Princess Katarina”, at the Psychiatric Hospital in Gornja Toponica. These wards were renovated by the charity, Lifeline Humanitarian Organisation, of which Her Royal Highness is Patron.

After the opening ceremonies a press conferences was held where HRH Princess Katherine announced new deliveries of humanitarian aid. The largest donations will be the delivery of medicines worth 1,850 000 DM and an angiograph unit worth 1,150 000 DM.

HRH Crown Princess Katherine to visit Nis

Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine will visit Nis on Monday, 11 June 2001. On Tuesday, 12 June, Crown Princess Katherine will inaugurate a Prenatal Diagnostics Unit of the Children’s Hospital at the Clinical Centre Nis. Her Royal Highness will be accompanied by Miss Isabel Goldsmith, the donator of the equipment at the Children’s Hospital. This opening of the Department for Molecular Biology and Prenatal Diagnostics is dedicated in memory of Isabel Patino, Miss Isabel Goldsmith’s mother.

HRH Crown Princess Katherine will also open two renovated wards at the Psychiatric Hospital in Gornja Toponica, which will be named “Princess Katarina”.

Her Royal Highness will be accompanied by Dr. Elaine Laycock, a medical director of “Lifeline humanitarian organisation”, whose patron is Princess Katherine, and other representatives of humanitarian organisations which have been helping the renovation of the Hospital in Gornja Toponica over the past few years.
