M.Sci. Svetlana Jovanovic - Juga, associate of Botanical Garden
“Jevremovac”
Born in 1949 in Banatska Subotica. Graduated from primary and
secondary school in Bela Crkva. Graduated from Faculty of Forestry,
major in horticulture, at Belgrade University from 1975 employed as
Head of Greenery Department in Institute for Urbanism in Bela Crkva
She won numerous prizes for activities in the improvement of city
greenery and organization of numerous flower exhibitions in Bela
Crkva. From 1988 she worked for Institute of Botany and Botanical
Garden “Jevremovac” in Belgrade as inspector and later as an
associate for dendroflora.
She obtained her Master’s Degree in 1996 at the Centre for
Multidisciplinary Studies of Belgrade University, major in
protection and improvement of environment with the thesis
“Taxonomic-Horologic Analysis of Existing and Perspective
Dendroflora (trees and bushes) of Botanical Garden “Jevremovac”.”
She published six scientific and several expert articles.
In Botanical Garden “Jevremovac” of Biological Faculty university of Belgrade
she intensively worked on cultivation, breeding, enlargement and determination
of botanical fund. She is also author of Guide through Dendroflora of Botanical
Garden “Jevremovac.” It is the first work of that kind and contents since of
foundation of “Jevremovac.”
Dr Dragica Vilotic, full professor at the Faculty of Forestry at
Belgrade University
Born on 1955 in Zemun. Graduated from Primary and Secondary School
in Obrenovac She entered the Faculty of Forestry at Belgrade
University in 1974/75 and graduated in 1979 with GPA 10. Enrolled
for her graduate studies in 1980/81 and graduated in 1987 with
Master Thesis “Anatomy of Trunk and Root of Fir Tree (Abies alba
Mill) from Goc Mountain from Germ to Beginning of Secondary
Fattening”. She defended her Ph. D. Thesis “Anatomy of Virgilian Oak
Tree (Quercus Virgiliana/Ten./Ten.) in Different Areas of Deliblato
Sandy Terrain, on 18 July 1992 at the Faculty of Forestry at
Belgrade University. In 1993 she was chosen as assistant professor,
then in 1998 as associate professor and in 2003 as full professor.
She lectures freshmen courses: Forestry Botany and Anatomy of Trees.
She was the tutor for many graduate theses. She was the student
advisor for many masters and doctors thesis. She participated in
numerous committees for defending master’s and doctor’s thesis at
the Forestry Faculty and other faculties of Belgrade and Novi Sad
University.
She co-authored student textbook “Botany” for 1st and 2nd grade of
Forestry Secondary School, co-author of textbook “Biology” for
entrance examination for the Forestry Faculty of Belgrade, author of
University textbook “Comparative Anatomy of Woods”, author of
monograph “Ginko” and co-author of monograph “Excursion Flora of
Woods of Serbia” and “Omorika – Picea omorika in the area of Tara
National Park”. She published 7 books and textbooks so far and 3
monographs.
For student’s needs she made a macroscopic collection of samples of
forest species that she continually expands, as well as numerous
slides of macroscopic and microscopic slides of economically
important species of trees.
So far, she has published and exposed altogether 148 works both
individually or in cooperation with other authors. Her articles are
published in leading magazines of national importance and in
monographs. She participated in the realization of numerous
scientific-research projects and she coordinated four of them.
Besides managing projects, she has participated as an evaluator of
technology projects of the Ministry in charge. Her works are quoted
in doctor’s dissertations, master’s thesis, original scientific
studies, monographs and university textbooks.
During 1988 she took part in an one month advanced training in
Tashkent (SSSR) on researching anatomy of white and black mulberry
trees, and in 1989 in advanced training at Royal Botanical Gardens,
Kew in London with the goal to adopt new methods of work in the
field of tree anatomy.
Dr Mirjana Sijacic-Nikolic, associate professor at the Faculty of
Forestry at Belgrade University
Born in 1968 in Belgrade. Graduated from Primary and Secondary
school in Sombor. Graduated from the Faculty of Forestry at Belgrade
University in 1991. In 1995 successfully defended master’s thesis
“Estimation of Genetic Potential Eight Backgrounds of Juniper (Picea
Abies/L/Karst) from Test Culture in Ivanjica”. She defended her
doctor’s thesis “Analysis of Genetic Potential Generative Seed
Plantation of Spruce (Picea omorika /Panč./ Purkyne) through
Controlled Hybridization of Family Species” in February 2001.
She was chosen in 1992 as temporary professor assistant and then in
1992 as full time assistant professor for the course Genetics with
Crop Improvement. She was chosen as associate professor at the same course in
2007. In the process of forming study plans and programmes
according to Bologna Process, Dr. Mirjana Sijacic-Nikolic suggested
the introduction of new course: Conservation and Controlled Usage of
Forest Genetic Resources that was accepted in graduate studies
programme of the Faculty of Forestry at Belgrade University. She was
co-author of subsidiary textbook “Practicum for Genetics with Crop
Improvement” for the Faculty of Forestry at Belgrade University and
University of Banja Luka, co-author of “Preparation Exam Textbook
for Passing Qualification Tests for Faculty of Forestry at Belgrade
University.”
She participated in numerous committees for obtaining masters’ and
doctors’ degrees.
She published, as author or co-author, 34 scientific studies. She
presented 63 researches at local and international symposiums. She
participated in many scientific and research projects and was
coordinator of two of them. She was quoted 17 times in master’s
thesis, doctor’s dissertations, original scientific works and
university textbooks.
Her specialization in biotechnological laboratory of Corn Institute
“Zemun Polje” in Belgrade was published in 1999. She participated in
the international course «Conservation and management of forest
genetic resources in Eastern Europe« in Austria and «Training
Workshop on Forest Biodiversity« in Russia in organization of IPGR,
CGIAR и BFW.
Engineer Jelena Vucetic, senior associate of the Faculty of Forestry
at Belgrade University
Born in 1964 in Zemun.
Graduated from Primary and Secondary School in Belgrade and then
enrolled at the Faculty of Forestry at Belgrade University. She
works at the Faculty of Forestry at Belgrade University as
florist-technician on jobs of vegetation reproduction and growth of
plants, and since of 1998 she was chosen as associate on jobs of
decoration and maintenance of the Arboretum of the Faculty of
Forestry at Belgrade University. She is finishing her master’s
degree in Centre for Multidisciplinary Studies in Belgrade in the
section for Ecology and Protection of Environment.
